Evaluating the quality of new printers, papers and profiles can be challenging. A test page is the solution.

A great print starts with a solid understanding of how to create and manipulate your files, control color management, sharpen appropriately, and establish a good understanding of substrate characteristics. This test page contains multiple images and computer-generated test patterns, which push the limits of your printer and substrate. It is constructed with both photographic data that represents the types of work you generally create and data that is outside typical boundaries of photographic images.

Historically, the Kodak Dataguide was every photographer's friend. The Dataguide contained test images and sample negatives for testing which would show typical colorcasts, dynamic range, and other color characteristics of various types of Kodak film. It provided a comparison of how a particular film would perform and allowed for testing against a photographer's workflow and processing methods.

This test page contains a wide range of values and image types in both color and grayscale. High-key and low-key images are included in grayscale along with color and neutral gradients. Most importantly this allows for a representation of your work, along with computer generated data, the file can be used to test the quality of your ICC profiles along with substrate limits for DMAX, saturation, and a variety of other variables in the printing process.
