Living the Dream... One Nightmare At A Time

This collection of images was inspired by the works of Maggie Taylor. Everything within theme is constructed from my mind using my photo archive, new photographs, altered creative commons clipart, old family photos and Photoshop. Nothing about them truly exists outside of my mind. They are autobiographical in nature.
The last few years when asked "How are you? or What have you been doing?" My reply has been "Living the dream.... One nightmare at a time." Everyone assumes this to be a joke; they laugh and the conversation moves on, when in reality this is truth. My whole life has been on life altering event after another; whether it be a near fatal car accident or the loss of a loved one. There are many times when the outcome of these events could have been drastically different. This was the founding theme for the work created. Even though I see them as my truth, I would rather not disclose the stories behind them and allow the viewer to make their own story from them. That said, all of the images are "windows into my soul" and as such contain a window, or through a window perspective.
The final image is the epitomize of my concept of living the dream one nightmare at a time. It is showing three windows; the past - full of my loves, joys and nightmares and all the things that make me who and what I am, the present - my dream becoming reality and the storm of creativity that is at the center of who I am, the future - a blank page with only a hint of what wisdom lies ahead.
